I think that for every human being there is something intended by God. It depends on him or her if he or she decides to take advantage of that little "gift". Perhaps, that's why many people have a bit more luck than others; and also, maybe that's why some of us seize every day more than others. However, not only is it difficult to identify what the gift is, but also it is complicated to understand what reason is there in order for you to receive it. Nevertheless, last Thursday there was an event at school in which some of the students finally knew what they were going to do with their lives, or more specifically with their future, taking into account that extra possibility that was given to them.

In this case, that "gift" was the option to study in another country. There were two scholarships for the students to take. The first one was for Loras College in Dubuque. This university offers undergraduates as well as graduates. The girl who had the privilege of winning it was Monserrat Bueno, who chose it without even doubting, because of its great possibilities and incredible recognition. The second scholarship was for Loras College too. But this time the student who decided to take it was Karla Rojas. In this order of ideas, the last scholarship available was for the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. This one was taken by Laura Catalina Lastra, who won the third scholarship. That's why she did not have the possibility to choose which one she preferred.

These three girls were very fortunate to receive the scholarships offered by the school, since it is very difficult to get them. I'm pretty sure they will seize them and take advantage of every second they spend over there. Not many people have that kind of opportunities, so we hope you enjoy your studies in each university and learn many things that you will probably not learn twice. These experiences are unique and are a clear example of what fate has for each one of us for our future, specially talking about universities and colleges. There are a lot of expectations, so if you want to get one of these scholarships, you may start applying to them as soon as you can.

5 Fantastic college tips

When you start college, a new step in your life is going to happen. You have to become way more responsible, organized, and all your stuff has to be in complete order for you to have a great beginning in college. Besides the grades and academic issues, you also have to start a great social life: friends, roommates, teachers, girlfriends, boyfriends, classmates, and more. Now I´m here to share with you 5 fantastic tips that I hope will help you survive your first year of college as a freshman.

1. Make friends

Try not to isolate yourself, staying in your room, wasting time in the computer, like in Facebook or any other social network. Find time to make friends (maybe your roommate, your classmates, etc.) or even when you´re in the cafeteria try to start a conversation with people who share your interests and who make you fill comfortable about who you really are.

2. Be nice and respectful

It’s difficult sometimes to like everyone, but it is very important to be open-minded and to receive everyone in your new college life with the best attitude.

3. Get your work done and keep your focus on school

Make sure you find a good place to study, where you can concentrate, and where you know you will not waste time. Moreover, work with your friends! Sometimes there´s a lot of work to be done, so a way to get it done in a better way, is to get together with your friends, who will keep you awake and help you in everything you need.

 4.   Get Involved

As soon as you get to the college, go through the catalogs of different activities, clubs and organizations. You´ll meet tons of people with the same interests as you.

5.   Become friends with your teacher

This might sound strange, but it is true. Talk to your professor, and try to have a good relationship with all of them. If you ever get sick or have a problem,  they will understand you and will try to help you. Go to their office to ask them questions, help them whenever they need help, and try to do your best in every assignment.
